Carnivals, War Damage, and the Stowaway…
by Asia on Aug.12, 2011, under Imagined Images & Other Tricks with Mirrors
I am driving Dad's van and we head towards town. As we are pulling out of the drive, movements in the grass catch my attention; I start pleading with Hoss to pull over, even threatening to hurl myself from the moving vehicle I am so keen to investigate (apparently, I have forgotten I am driving...) I park behind a line of vehicles attending the carnival on the corner, and rush back to find two calico kittens and a beagle pup that have been abandoned.
Americus has gone Euro:
There is still war damage marring the beautiful buildings in the town West and I am wishing I had money to invest to help with repairs. Something is amiss in the park and Lulu is angry because the bathrooms are out of order and the children must defecate in Wal-Mart sacks; and after all, "Our children are not dogs." Later, in the rain, a man is busted selling drugs and I am sad because Lulu missed the connection and won't be having any fun this evening.
The Stowaway:
Boudicca has stowed away in Mom's truck, again, and we are a bit miffed when she hops out of the back and strolls up Mainstreet. I scold her and scoop her up and she rides complacently in my arms purring loudly as I frantically rush between The Whistlestop and The Noose trying to get both opened and organized. I drop Bo off at the stufio and Blanche and Lucy commence to beat her up a little bit and I can't help thinking, "This is a nice turnabout -It's about time Bo got some payback."

Beer and BBQ…
by Asia on Aug.12, 2011, under Imagined Images & Other Tricks with Mirrors
Becky gives two regulars I've never seen coupons for free fancy drinks with exotic flavors because we are out of the flavors they wanted that night. The fake regulars then proceed to go around trying to collect signatures from other patrons on their coupon sheets in attempts to get more free things they aren't entitled to; they hassle me and our Japanese owner who points to the kimonos on the wall in subtle attempts to let them know they're barking up the wrong tree. I go out back and proceed to do wondrous acrobatics on the chairs and tables in the beer garden.
The Barbecue:
We meet the DeVoe family out at The Ranch where we are all expected to dine on the single perch that is the only catch Mike was able to make that day. Mike works very hard to char the fish to ash in the oven because it will "go further". I am very angry at David because he refuses to take off my favorite dress and because he embarrassed me by urinating on the patio where everyone is sitting instead of using his tree like we asked him to.

Absolutely fell in love with the idea. It's just mesmerizing to me. Reminds me a bit of the whole beat movement. I just love the free-form weirdness. Mine prob. won't be half so well written, but they should still be interesting. :)

Thoughts: Done with Week 1 of Phase 1. Feeling pretty good. Decent deficits all week. A bit disappointed with the beer splurge, Saturday, but life is short. Had a fun night. And at least packed my own dinner, so that was a bit of a victory.
This week:
Did I get 30 + minutes of exercise 5 days this week? Yes.
Did I eat relatively healthy? Yes.
Did I keep my “free” day around maintenance calories? Yes!
Did I binge? No!

Did I get 30 + minutes of exercise 5 days this week? Yes.
Did I eat relatively healthy? Yes. (A and B nutrition ratings all days.)
Did I keep my “free” day around maintenance calories? Had one main. and one only slightly over main.
Did I binge? No.
Thoughts: Did fairly well through the week. One “red” day but it was really barely over maintenance calories. Think Sunday might have been another maintenance day, but had a 900+ deficit all other days. Pretty nice. This week is going to be a bit rough with the mini vacation for two days, but hopefully that won’t derail me too much. Just have to see how it goes. Hope this bloat will pass in another day or two. Am still terribly excited to start the South Beach program next week.

AVERAGED a little over 1000 calorie deficit per day for the week. Very nice. Somehow haven't lost anything. Trying not to get discouraged. Know hormones are playing a part. It's still frustrating. I *know* I put in the work for at least a pound, and prob. closer to two, but just got to keep on keeping on.
I had three minor dairy "slip ups"...Can hopefully do even better, next week. Been 90% dairy free if not more. Had MAYBE three ounces of cheese (high-end guesstimate) throughout the entire week and one scoop of ice-cream. Other then that, no dairy. Don't know if I'm going to make it through the rest of the month or not. I knew this was going to be hard but I didn't think it would be THIS hard. My biggest fear is that "depriving" myself is going to trigger a binge, but hopefully, I can be better/stronger then that.
Feeling a little frustrated, but also determined. If nothing else, it's good for me to be back on track. It's too bad the scale isn't cooperating, but I should still be doing right by my body and that's the most important thing, really.
